I hope everyone has had an amazing week!  I don’t know about you guys but I’m definitely ready for the weekend!  Today I thought I’d take you through the Ipsy and Birchbox subscriptions I got this month!  Also thinking about doing a vlog about my updated skincare routine since having all of my skin issues.  Would that be something you’re interested in seeing?  Onto the post!

This month I got my first Ipsy Glam Bag!  And I LOVE EVERY PIECE!  First off, let me explain the glam bag.  Its the same concept as birchbox but a little different.  Cost is $10.00, each month you get a little makeup bag (this month’s was designed by a San Francisco artist) and 4 or 5 travel or full size items.

My bag this month included

A full size Nicole nail polish
A travel size Bare Minerals Moxie
A full size Be a Bombshell quad
A travel size Pixi Foundation Primer

I loved EVERYTHING!  For starters the polish was textured (see my post WP_20140323_009here on that).  The quad has great colors (perfect for a Victoria Secret look or for a Island inspired look) with great payoff.  I didn’t have high hopes for the Bare Minerals lipstick, I feel that the brand is kind of overhyped and not all that worth it.  With that being said though, the texture and color of the lipstick was great!  The scent was slightly pepperminty.  Although I liked it, it didn’t last long enough on me for the price but for a sample I liked it.  The primer was nice too.  Not quite as much shimmer as the Smashbox version it also didn’t go on quite as smoothly as the Smashbox version.  However overall, it worked nicely and my foundation did stay in place a little longer.

My birchbox this month included

InstagramCapture_4c80531a-b86b-43a2-9511-02c55a8053ac_jpgThe Coola tinted moisturizer is a very very sheer finish, although it is a unique texture, almost whipped and feels like a primer once on.  Its too sheer for me, but works great as a primer.  The packaging is kind of a rip off though, it has .17oz, and the smashbox picture has .24, but is 2/3 the size!  The tea was a great bonus.  They taste great and smell amazing.  Tiniest bit of honey and I was in heaven.  Vasanti BrightenUp cleanser was a little tough on my skin.  Although the beads are super tiny and it gently exfoliates, still too tough for my skin.  The Curl Keeper is definitely a keeper!  It helped me keep my beachy waves beachy without being sticky or crunchy.  The last two items I wasn’t able to use due to the almonds in it.  Which was a total bummer, the chocolate looked delish and the rescue balm would have been helpful this week with my intensely dry lips.
Overall, I just love  both boxes.  I know a lot of people try to compare the two but I feel like they are too different to compare.  Yes they both give you samples to try, but a huge perk with birchbox is the points and discounts.  I already have $20 off! Plus I’ve already redeemed $10 off!  that’s huge!  Ipsy seems to be more about the makeup and less about the skin, body and hair care.  I think both are worth it.  For $20 a month I get to try all sorts of things and I get to  have fun doing it!
