July Boxes (7)

I was so excited when my Birchbox came in this month!   Birchbox did something a little different this month, they allowed you to pick out an item to come in your box.  You didn’t have to if you preferred to be surprised but I saw the two choices and one of them I had been wanting to try so I hopped on it!  They gave you the choice of either a Cynthia Rowley Lip Stain or a Ruffian Nail Polish.  So here is my rundown of what I got in my box:

Ruffian Nail Polish in Ambrosia, a metallic lavender polish
Ruffian Nail Polish Remover Towelette
Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette, 4 deluxe sample shades of the palette
Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser, a deluxe sample of a unique cleanser
Marcelle 8in1 Serum, a lightweight serum
Hello Body Cream, a body moisturizer with the Hello fragrance scent

Today I’m going to start with the Ruffian products since it’s the one I picked to have in my box.  Birchbox offered 3 different colors, a metallic coral color, a metallic sand color and a metallic lavender which is the one I went with (mostly because I don’t have anything like it and it’s a little outside my normal comfort zone).  Ruffian polishes are touted for being a one&done polish.  You only need one coat for full coverage and they are supposed to be streak free which is super important for a metallic shades.  But does it live up to its hype?  DEFINITELY!  I used my usual base coat, one coat of this polish and a quick dry top coat and I was good to go!  I usually steer clear of metallic shades because of the streaking but this was in fact streak free!  These polishes retail for $11 each or a 3 pack for $26, which is a little pricey but they are no muss no fuss polishes!

The towelette was a nice addition, when you open the pouch you smell a light flowery scent (which is a nice departure from the typical acetone smell).  The wipe itself is black which is good because I would probably have a hard time using it if you could see the polish I was using all over it!  It did a great job at removing the polish and left my nails and hands feeling super soft with a slight oily residue (but not the bad kind, just like you put a cuticle oil on).  One wipe was all I needed to remove all of my polish.  Overall I really liked them but I can’t justify the price, they retail for $10 for 10 wipes!  However they would be great if you travel a lot or if you want to pamper yourself.

Wednesday we’re going to talk about The Revealed 2 Palette and the Hello Body Cream.  Stay Tuned!
