YSL Touche Eclat | Influenster

I love Influenster!  For those of you who don’t know, its a website where you give reviews on items and your reviews earn you badges and in turn having badges allows you to enter campaigns for different products.  If you’re interested in being part of Influenster CLICK HERE!  I’ve received a few up to this point, but this one is by far my favorite!

YSL Touche Eclat Blur Perfector and Blur Primer

The blur primer is a silicone based primer that has a fine golden glitter running through it.  When applied to the skin though that golden glitter looks more like a hint of golden shimmer that perfectly brightens your complexion.  I use the tiniest amount of this, so this deluxe sample size will last FOREVER!  I’m not a huge fan of most silicone based primers as the super slippy texture under my makeup isn’t my favorite.  This one however has just the slightest slip to it.  Its quite nice actually, I’ve found myself reaching for it every day.

The blur perfector is a silicone based light pink translucent balm that comes with a little white sponge inside of a black velveteen pouch.  It can be used in three ways.  First it can be used on its own as just a way to blur over any pores or fine lines.  This isn’t quite enough for me though, with my acne scarring I need actual coverage.

The second way you can use it is under your makeup, which to me doesn’t work either.  As stated above the super slippy texture that you get with heavily siliconed products doesn’t sit well under makeup on my skin.  And this balm may have the slippiest texture I’ve ever felt.

The last option is to put this on top of your makeup and this is where it has found a spot in my daily makeup ritual.  I’ve found myself using this at my cheeks and nose where my pores tend to be a little more prevalent and under my eyes where I’ve used concealer.  Although it may not simply be meant for setting concealer the super slippy texture and the blurring of the fine lines under my eyes means my concealer isn’t creasing.  At all.  Its amazing.  I really love the texture of this, it feels so luxurious on the skin as a finishing product.

Top 5 Game Changing Products

game changer 2

We all have those products, you know the ones!  When you run out its like life is over, at least momentarily.  Here are mine!

carmex1 – Carmex.  Seriously, this stuff is a savior.  I don’t use it daily or anything, but as soon as I have an irritation on my lips or my lips get chapped, a day after using this my lips are like new again!  I try not to use it too often, but when I don’t have it, oh man, look out!  My lips look AWFUL!

2 – Leave In Conditioner.  It doesn’t particularly matter the brand, I have a few favorites- It’s a 10, Beauty Protector, and currently Instacure.  I notice when I don’t use this after washing my hair, its dull, static-y, and just generally doesn’t look good.  I keep it to my ends, if you’re curious my favorite of the 3 is still the It’s a 10.

3 – The Body Shop Body Scrub.  All of them are good but right now I’m in love with the Grapefruit scent.  It. Smells. So good!  More than just the scent though is how easy it makes shaving my legs.  Its quicker, my legs are left smoother AND I can go longer in between shaves!

4 – Eyeshadow Primer.  Currently I’m using the NYX version, although my favorites are the e.l.f. and Urban Decay versions.  If I don’t use a primer my eyeshadow creases.  It doesn’t matter what I do, how I apply it, or the brand of shadow.  No primer=creasing.

5 – Nicole by OPI Drying Drops.  These drops are a life saver!  Seriously, after you put a top coat on wait 60 seconds, add 1-2 drops per nail and BAM! Your nails are dry to the touch in one minute and completely dry in 5.  I was not blessed with the patience virtue, so anything that will help me with that gets a win in my book.  I can’t do a manicure without these now!

Revealed 2 & Hello Body Cream | Birchbox

On Monday I started talking about my July Birchbox, what I got in it and a detailed review of the Ruffian Nail Polish and Polish Remover Wipes.  Today we’re going to continue by talking about the Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette and the Hello Body Cream.

Birchbox came through again with something I’d been wanting to try for a really really long time!  I’d had my eye on the Coastal Scents Revealed 2 palette ever since it came out.  It has an astounding 20 neutral and rose toned eye shadows in a super slim cardboard palette.  A lot of the colors are similar to the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette with some that are similar to the Naked 2 palette.  I’ve been wanting this for a while for a couple of reasons.  I love rose toned colors on me, they really tend to accentuate my hazel green eyes and compliment my skin tone.  When I looked at the Naked 3 palette I was disappointed, I loved the colors but they didn’t inspire me, they were all just too neutral.  And I know that’s the point of the palette to be a “naked” palette, but I still need to feel inspired to use it.  And I just am not the hugest fan of the Urban Decay shadows in general, I feel they drop down a lot and tend to really crease on me even with a primer.

Revealed 2

So, long intro… Onto the review, I love this palette so far.  My sample came with 4 different colors that are in the sample, an ivory, a peachy gold, a pink and a burgundy.  They are all super pigmented and really soft and buttery.  I didn’t have any fall down on these which is a bonus and they didn’t crease at all (however I always use a primer).  The price is right too!  On Coastal Scents website it says the list price is $39.99 but I’ve never seen on their site for more than $19.99 which is a great deal!   Through Birchbox you can get the palette and 3 brushes for $34.99.  I haven’t bought the full palette yet but I have a feeling I will be doing so very soon.  (To be honest I’m holding out for a good coupon code, what can I say I’m a bargain shopper).

That was a long winded review so this one is going to short and sweet.  I love the scent of Hello (click here for that review) but unfortunately I can’t use this body cream.  It has sweet almond oil in it and I’m allergic to almonds.  That being said sweet almond oil is often used in body lotions to help with moisturizing, so I would think this would in fact be a super-rich moisturizer but don’t quote me on that.  I’ve set this aside for me to do a giveaway when I gather a ton of products that I can’t use.

hello Friday we’ll be talking about the final products which are the Suki Exfoliating Cleanser and the Marcelle 8in1.  Stay tuned!

Beachy Waves Required | Ipsy

So I meant to post this Friday but life got in the way so today we’re doing a double post, this one and then another later tonight.  So lets get started by finishing up my June Ipsy Bag!  These are the last 2 items-beachy

I am lucky enough to have enough hair that I can pull off effortless beachy waves without them looking sad.  I don’t have very thick hair, I just have a TON of it.  Like seriously, it feels like a ton…  Sometimes if I’m not careful texture sprays can actually make my hair seem like its stuck in the 80s (just a little too poufy).  First off I need to remark how amazing the Marc Anthony Beach Spray smells.  It smells like coconutty sun screen.  Like you’re spraying a pina colada into your hair.  Pure heaven.  I love love love it!  Even better though, a little bit goes a really long way.  I’ve been using the Garnier texture spray for a while now and I think I like the Marc Anthony one even better!  It retails at $8.79 for 4.2oz and is available at Walgreens.

Lash OutThe last item I got in my ipsy bag was a full size Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Lash Out mascara.  And to be completely honest at this point I haven’t used it.  I have so many mascaras right now that I really don’t want to start another one.  One of the biggest complaints I saw/heard was that the mascara smelled AWFUL.  I didn’t think so at all.  Now, don’t get me wrong, it didn’t smell good (but aside from YSL, what mascara’s do?).  To me it just smelled like plastic.  Not like chemicals, not like it was bad, just plastic.  At some point I will test this out, when I do I’ll post and update to it.  This retails at $15.00.

All in all my June bag was a good one!  Not only was I able to use all of the products but I liked a good number of them! If you’re interested in the other products I got, click here!

Supergoop! Eye Cream

Over the past two days I’ve reviewed both the Supergoop! Everyday Sunscreen (Click Here) and the Forever Young Hand Cream (Click Here).  Today we’re continuing with their eye cream! sg eye1This actually ended up being my favorite of the things I was sent.  I’d been wanting an eye cream lately but really didn’t know where to start, what to look for or really what was what.  I’m 29 and just starting to get the finest of lines under my eyes and lately when I wake up my eyes have been super puffy.  I don’t have particularly dark circles so this was actually a great product to start with.  The Advanced SPF 37 Anti-Aging Eye Cream has a metal tip to help instantly cool and depuff your under eyes.  The effects are instant within a couple of minutes (by the time I put the rest of my moisturizer on) my eyes are less puffy, feel awake and almost like they’ve been tightened up (not in a bad way).  This was another great point like I made above, if eyes are one of the sg eye2places that show aging first why don’t most eye creams contain spf?  I love that this one does.  However it’s not something I want to use before bed because of the spf so I recently ordered The Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Eye Cream to use at night (although I haven’t received it yet).  This retails at $45.00 for a ½oz tube.  It’s a little pricey but most good quality eye creams are.  Plus if you’re only using it once a day it should last a really long time since you use only the tiniest amount!

Supergoop! Everyday Sunscreen

Last month I was lucky enough to be chosen by Birchbox as a Birchblogger to receive a couple of Supergoop! products and be part of their Google Hangout with Heidi Thaggard founder of Supergoop!  I was so excited to try out these products since I’m such an advocate for sun care after living in Arizona for so long.  I learned a lot about skincare and sun damage and different ways to help avoid it during the chat.  If you’re interested in seeing the recorded footage click here.  Over the next couple of days I’ll be reviewing the couple products I was given to test.  Lets get started! sg everyday1First let’s talk about their basic sunscreen.  It is called Everyday SPF30 with Cellular Response Technology.  In terms of a sunscreen this is pleasant.  It is quite the liquid consistency which doesn’t seem to go well with the tube.  If you’re not careful you can make a real mess!  I do have to say, I used this when we were outside doing our patio and although I should have reapplied more than just once, I did end up with the most awkward sunburn I’ve ever had.  It was splotchy and inconsistent.   There were random patcsg everyday2hes of burnt spots and around that was no burn or tan.  It was by far the weirdest experience I’ve ever had with sunscreen.  Aside from that though, it soaked into the skin nicely and doesn’t have a bad sunscreen smell.  It’s pleasant.  Overall I would recommend this, but you really have to be careful to apply regularly when you’re out in the sun!  This retails for $19.00 for a 2.4oz tube or $48.00 for the 18oz jug.

Holy Splotchy Sunburn!

Smashbox Primer & Giveaway

Over the years I’ve tried A LOT of primers, some I’ve liked better than others.  I was given an opportunity to try out the Smashbox Color Correction Adjusting Primer through Birchbox Birchbloggers.  (If you are interested in Birchbox Click Here and if you’re interested in BirchBloggers Click Here!)

I was really excited because my skin has always been slightly red but after the pimple issue, I’ve had some continuous and intense redness.  In the past I’ve tried 2 redness reducing primers, Ulta Professional (I used the entire bottle up!) and MakeUpForEver (used just a sample).  I liked both of them, but had my eye on the Smashbox version.

I’ve used a couple of Smashbox primers before, the original, the moisture, and the luminizing.  The moisture one is my go to in the winter and I love the luminizing in the summer, but with my redness I was hoping to replace that with the color correction one.

Here is my video first impression and review:

Overall I really liked it.  The texture was smooth and silky just like their other ones, and I do think that it helped keep my redness at bay (which really starts showing itself in the mid to late afternoon!).  It held my makeup in place all day and my makeup went on super smoothly.  My nose still go a little oily (my only oily area) although it wasn’t as bad as with foundation alone.

My only and I mean seriously, ONLY disappointment is the soybean oil that is in this.  Although I only have a very mild soy allergy, prolonged use of products that contain soy oil on my skin cause irritation.  That being said, I will definitely use this on those extra red days, it just won’t be completely replacing my current primer.

In addition to Birchbox sending me one to try out, they are also sending me one to give away to you guys!  So here’s the important information on how to win!

  1. Subscribe to my YouTube channel (click here)
  2. Give the video above a thumbs up
  3. Share either this post or the video on the platform of your choice! (twitter, Facebook, google+, whatever you like)
  4. Leave a comment here or on the video stating if you use a primer and if so which ones you like or don’t like.

Thanks so much for watching and supporting me!
